The 30-06 has been killing everything on this continent for well over a century, and it still does not need an apology. Loaded from 150 grain deer bullets up to 220 grain bonded slugs for elk and bear, it covers more ground than almost anything else you can buy over a counter. Browning's Pro Hunter Deluxe wraps that cartridge in a satin finish light maple stock with a dark maple forend cap, cut checkering, and matte blued metal that keeps a low profile in the timber.

The 22" barrel carries spiral fluting, as does the bolt body, and the muzzle is threaded for the radial brake that comes on the rifle. On a 30-06 that brake is not a gimmick - it takes the edge off a full house load and makes a long afternoon at the bench a lot less punishing. The top tang safety is easy to run silently, and the bolt lock override lets you clear the chamber without taking the rifle off safe.
