Browning's AB3 is the working version of the A-Bolt, and the Pro Hunter is the dressed up build in that line. You get the action Browning built its bolt gun reputation on paired with a detachable box magazine that drops free into your hand. The Pro Hunter adds a spiral fluted sporter contour barrel with a threaded muzzle and a thread protector in the box, a two piece bolt handle with a teardrop knob that is easy to find without looking, and a top tang safety with a bolt lock override button so the action can be cycled with the safety still on.

The stock is Grade I American walnut with a satin finish and enhanced checkering at the grip and forend, a step up from the composite stocks most hunting rifles wear. Metal is finished in non reflective matte blue and the receiver comes drilled and tapped for bases, so mounting glass is a fifteen minute job. An Inflex recoil pad sits on the butt and directs the comb down and away from your face under recoil, which you notice by the end of a long sight in session in 30-06. The magazine holds four rounds and the 22" barrel keeps the rifle quick in timber without giving up much on an open hillside.
