Taurus Brace-Ready TX22: What the New Rimfire Pistol Brings

by Shooting Surplus

What Taurus announced

Taurus has added a brace-ready version of the TX22 to its rimfire pistol line. The Firearm Blog reported the release on October 15, 2026. The TX22 came out in 2019 and has been one of the more popular .22 LR pistols since, and this new model keeps that platform while adding a mount for a stabilizing brace.

The brace is the Strike Industries FSA Lite, a lightweight folding design with a small footprint meant to match the slim TX22. Taurus will sell the pistol two ways. One version ships with the FSA Lite already installed. The other is the brace-ready configuration, set up so a brace can be added later. State-compliant models are also in the lineup, pictured in the coverage with 10-round magazines.

The rest of the pistol will be familiar to TX22 owners. The TORO (Taurus Optic Ready Option) slide is cut for RMSc-pattern red dots, which covers a long list of compact optics. The barrel is threaded, and each pistol ships with one 22-round and one 16-round magazine.

The suppressor tie-in

The threaded barrel lines up with another recent Taurus move. On September 18 the company announced the TTX Suppressor Series, its first suppressors. The TTX22 is built from sintered titanium through additive manufacturing, uses a monocore baffle, and wears a high-temperature Cerakote C-Series finish. Taurus lists it at 5.5 inches long and 3.71 ounces, mounting by 1/2x28 direct thread. It is rated for .22 LR, .22 WMR, .17 HMR and 5.7x28mm, and Taurus says it is full-auto rated. What it means for buyers

A brace on a .22 LR pistol is mostly about a third point of contact. TFB describes the result as "an extra point of support for better stability and control." For a new shooter, or anyone running a red dot and a suppressor on a rimfire, that steadier hold makes a cheap-to-shoot gun easier to shoot well. The folding FSA Lite also keeps the package short when it is stowed.

Braces and braced pistols are treated differently from state to state, and some states restrict them. Before you order a braced or brace-ready pistol, check your state and local laws and read our state restrictions page. Any pistol you buy from us ships to the licensed dealer (FFL) you choose, never to your door.

Taurus has not given a ship date in the coverage we have seen, and we do not have the brace-ready TX22 in stock yet. When it arrives it will show up on our Taurus pages.

What to do now

If you already own a TX22, the accessories carry over. We stock the Taurus-made 16-round TX22 magazine, the same capacity as the second magazine in the new pistol's box, and a 13-round magazine for the TX22 Compact.

If you want more rounds between reloads, ProMag makes a 21-round TX22 magazine. It is an aftermarket magazine, so it does not count as a factory part, but it fits the standard TX22 pistol.

For a TX22 without a red dot, the Viridian E Series green laser is a direct fit on the TX22 rail and gives you an aiming point without cutting the slide.

And if the Strike Industries pairing interests you in a centerfire gun, Taurus already sells the GX4 Carry 9mm with a Strike Industries chassis and stabilizer, a TORO optic-ready slide, a Picatinny rail and two 15-round magazines. It is in stock now and ships to your FFL.
