The Athlon Midas G2 UHD is a 12x50 binocular. Twelve power is a step up from the 8x and 10x glass most hunters carry, and it changes what the binocular is for: less walking around with it hanging on a harness, more sitting still and picking apart a hillside. At that magnification a tripod or a solid rest makes a real difference in what you can actually resolve, because hand shake scales with magnification.

The 50mm objectives feed that magnification with enough light to keep the image bright at the edges of legal shooting light. UHD is the higher tier optical package within the Midas line. For open country glassing - mule deer, elk, antelope, or any situation where the animal is a long way off and needs to be judged before committing to a stalk - the 12x50 configuration covers ground quickly and gives up little to a spotting scope at moderate distance.
