Apex built S3 Steel around a complaint most waterfowl hunters share: steel patterns open up faster than they should. The answer here is plated steel shot behind a one piece wad, a combination Apex credits for the load's pattern retention out past where a plain steel shell starts to come apart.

This is the 12 gauge 3" version, carrying 1-1/4oz of #3 pellets at a listed 1450 fps. #3 sits in the middle of the common steel pellet sizes, which keeps the pellet count reasonable without giving up weight per pellet.
